Kaleidoscope Quilt

Quilt with geometric spiral pattern on a wooden floor with a bucket and stove nearby.

This yellow housetop quilt is composed of 24 half-cabin blocks in a 6x4 layout with several stripes for lengthen each side.

This quilt was inspired by an image of a Kaleidoscope but like all the housetop quilts, they come from this innovation on log cabin block from the quilters in Gees Bend.

This quilt is dyed with a variety of yellow natural dyes including: osage orange, tesu, and pomegranate. The pinks are from madder and lac. The ivories are a mix of black tea, coffee, and acorn.

This quilt is 100% linen on the front and 100% cotton on the back with cotton batting. The quilt is hand stitched with sashiko style cotton thread.
